Capacity Building Mentorship (CBM) Program

The Washington State Department of Transportation and Sound Transit’s Capacity Building Mentorship Program was created in response to the Governor’s Results Washington Goals. The program’s intent is to foster a more competitive environment for project delivery by building a broader base of certified Minority, Small, Veteran, and Women Business Enterprises (MSVWBE), and disadvantaged businesses that are able to perform work on transportation-related projects.

WSDOT’s Office of Equal Opportunity, along with Sound Transit, is responsible for the program and the immediate objective is to strengthen the long-term stability of certified firms by focusing resources on those critical business skills that contractors need to compete successfully.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

The Capacity Building Mentorship Program pairs successful prime contractor and consultants with diverse businesses wanting to do business with WSDOT and Sound Transit in an effort to increase their capacity and participation on projects.
